Thermal boots

Thermal boots for children

Thermal boots are incredibly practical for children, which is why we believe they are a must-have in every child’s winter wardrobe. They are moulded in one piece, just like wellington boots, but feature warm linings and thermal insulation. They can keep your child’s feet dry and warm on cold days, even in temperatures as low as -15°C. They are available with or without snow cuffs, so your child can wear them when playing in the snow. They are a great supplement to winter boots, but they cannot replace them. They do not provide the same support as a pair of winter boots that can be laced up to fit snugly around the foot. However, they are still useful to have. Although thermal boots are not ideal for long walks through snow-covered landscapes, they are more waterproof than traditional winter boots. As this type of boot is completely waterproof, it is perfect for very slushy weather. It is easy to understand why your child wants to play in the slush and enjoy it before it disappears, and let’s be honest, the best snowmen are built when temperatures are above freezing. We have lovely styles for boys and girls, with sizes to suit everyone from babies to teenagers. You will find styles from brands including En Fant, Bisgaard and Mikk-line.

Waterproof and warm

Winter weather can be very cold, but it can also be extremely wet. This is when it can be difficult for a pair of winter boots to keep your child’s feet dry throughout several hours outdoors. Winter boots often feature a TEX membrane that keeps water out, but that does not necessarily mean they are completely waterproof. It is often in slushy or rainy weather that your child’s winter boots are no longer sufficient, and this is where a pair of fully waterproof boots with a warm lining is the perfect solution. Thermal boots are hard-wearing and have a thick sole with a practical tread that makes it easier for your child to keep their footing, even on wet or slippery surfaces. They are designed for cold winter weather and challenging terrain, helping your child stay warm while keeping water out.

As with many other types of boots, there are differences between thermal boot styles. Like wellington boots, the boot itself is moulded in one piece, making it 100% waterproof. The difference between the styles lies in the materials they are made from. They are either made from natural rubber or a lighter material called Megol. Natural rubber is a softer material that is easier to bend, which can make this type of boot a good choice for younger children, as the shaft is more flexible. Both materials are equally waterproof and are great choices for a warm and waterproof boot. From a brand such as Petit by Sofie Schnoor, you can combine warm, comfortable boots with a charming princess-inspired look, including glitter boots.
