MarMar Rainwear

MarMar rainwear for those who want more than ordinary rainwear

MarMar rainwear is for you if you want to choose waterproof outerwear that keeps your child dry while still offering a distinctive look. MarMar Copenhagen actually began with rainwear, and that heritage is still clear in the collection today. Here you will find rain suits, rain jackets and other styles in beautiful colours, signature prints and thoughtful details such as the oversized collar, which offers extra coverage while creating a calm, recognisable look.

This category is especially relevant if you are looking for rainwear for children around 2-10 years and want to choose based on more than just colour. What usually makes the difference includes:

  • whether your child mostly needs a rain suit or a two-piece set
  • whether the fit should work for nursery, school or more urban everyday use
  • whether you prefer technical materials such as GORE-TEX and PFC-free surface treatment
  • whether you are looking for a special MarMar print or a more understated colour

If you would like to explore more styles from the same universe, you can also discover MarMar Copenhagen.

What makes MarMar rainwear special?

What makes MarMar rainwear stand out is the fine balance between function and design. While much classic rainwear is primarily made with practicality in mind, MarMar Copenhagen manages to give its waterproof outerwear a more complete and considered expression too. That does not mean function comes second - quite the opposite. Rainwear is an important part of the brand's history, and you can feel that in the solutions and details built into the designs.

Many styles are made from materials such as recycled polyester and may feature a GORE-TEX membrane, taped seams and a PFC-free DWR treatment. In everyday life, that means rainwear that can handle more than a short walk through drizzle. It is a good choice for children who spend a lot of time outdoors, play for long periods and need outerwear that works from morning drop-off to the last trip to the playground in the afternoon.

MarMar is therefore a great choice if you are comparing it with simpler alternatives and want to find rainwear where fit, design and practical properties come together in a meaningful way.

MarMar rain suit or MarMar rain jacket?

Whether you should choose a MarMar rain suit or a MarMar rain jacket depends especially on your child's age and how the rainwear will be used. For younger children, a rain suit is often the easiest solution. It offers all-round protection and is practical for nursery and pre-school, where children sit on their knees, jump in puddles and keep playing even when the ground is wet.

For older children, a two-piece set often gives more freedom in everyday life. A rain jacket with trousers is easier to take on and off during the day, and many schoolchildren find it easier to manage themselves. It also makes it easier to adapt the outfit to the weather with a separate rain jacket or a pair of rain trousers.

As a simple rule of thumb, you can think of it like this:

  • 2-4 years: a rain suit is often the most practical choice
  • 5-8 years: two-piece sets provide more freedom of movement and flexibility
  • 9-10 years: longer cuts and more distinctive prints can suit children who are starting to have their own style preferences

Materials and details that make a difference in wet weather

When looking at MarMar rainwear, it is worth taking a closer look at the materials and details. GORE-TEX is relevant for many parents because it adds extra reassurance in everyday life - especially if your child spends a lot of time outside, or if the rainwear is used regularly for nursery, trips and days with very wet weather.

Taped seams help keep water out where the fabric is joined, and a PFC-free DWR treatment is a good choice if you want to make a more considered decision. Recycled polyester is also part of MarMar's approach and provides a durable outer layer that suits play, movement and many hours of wear.

In addition, MarMar's design is known for adjustable details and the characteristic collar. It is not only beautiful to look at, but also provides extra shelter around the neck and face when the weather is windy and raw. If the rainwear is used during transitional seasons, it can be useful to add a layer of MarMar thermal wear underneath.

Size, fit and the safe choice in MarMar rainwear

One of the things many people are unsure about with MarMar rainwear is sizing. MarMar generally fits true to size, but the slightly roomier cut and adjustable details can make the rainwear appear larger than it actually is. For that reason, some end up choosing a size that is too small, even though rainwear should have room for movement.

The safest choice is often to start with your child's usual size and remember that the fit is designed to work over regular clothing and with room for an extra layer when needed. If your child is between two sizes, or if you already know there needs to be room for more underneath, it may make sense to consider sizing up.

MarMar Copenhagen is a lovely choice if you want rainwear that both looks good and works for a completely normal children's everyday life with mud, wet playgrounds and changeable weather.
