Joha for babies and children – wool and soft everyday layers
Joha makes underwear, sleepwear and other clothing for babies and children. The brand is particularly known for wool and base layers, but the range also includes other materials. Choose according to the composition of the individual item rather than assuming that all Joha products are the same.
At House of Kids, you can find Joha for different parts of your child's wardrobe. A bodysuit or leggings can be worn next to the skin, while a cardigan or an all-in-one can provide an extra layer. Start with your child's everyday routine, the season and how much warmth is needed.
Wool, wool blends and other fabrics
Joha describes fabrics including wool, wool/cotton and wool/silk. Their different constructions give them different surfaces and a different feel against the skin. Wool/cotton, for example, may have cotton on the inside and wool on the outside. Check the product details if you want a particular fibre next to the skin.
The material name alone does not tell you how thick, warm or stretchy a garment is. The knit, weave and any blended fibres also matter. Look at both the composition and the description of the particular fabric.
How to use Joha for layering
A base layer should fit comfortably without irritating folds or edges. On cooler days, add a suitable mid-layer and outerwear. Adjust the number of layers to the surroundings and your child's activity, and remove warm layers when they are no longer needed.
You can compare our full range of wool underwear and wool bodysuits. When you need more wool layers, you will find them in our wool for babies and children collection.
Size, fastenings and fit
Start with your child's height and the guidance for the individual item. Look at the length, room for a nappy if needed, and the fastenings that need to work in everyday use. A bodysuit should fasten without pulling, and a top or trousers should allow normal movement.
Softness and stretch vary between fabrics. Two Joha styles in the same labelled size will therefore not necessarily fit alike. If you are unsure about the material or fit, we are happy to help you find out more about the particular item.
Washing and caring for Joha
Always follow the garment's care label. Joha states that some of its wool products are developed for machine washing and tumble drying, but the instructions on each individual item determine the method and temperature. Choose your detergent according to the material too.
Our washing guide can help you understand care labels and look after wool and other fabrics. Airing may be an option for wool clothing that is not dirty; wash when necessary, and dry and reshape the item according to the manufacturer's instructions.
