Joha Baby booties

Keep little feet warm with Joha booties

Just think of everything your newborn’s tiny, curled-up feet will experience. Their first walk through the grass, warm sand between their toes and the occasional sharp pebble underfoot. There is plenty to look forward to, but with a pair of soft, cosy wool booties from Joha, your baby’s feet will have the perfect start. For now, you can simply enjoy kissing those little feet as much as you like – and there is still plenty of time before you need to worry about muddy puddles and splinters.

Joha booties are made from wonderfully soft wool that keeps little feet warm when it is cold and allows them to breathe when temperatures rise. The booties can be secured around the ankle with an elastic strap and come in beautiful shades that coordinate with Joha’s lovely wool suits and mittens. Wool booties are ideal for nap time in the pram, playtime on a baby mat in the living room or a cosy walk in the pushchair. In short, you can put them on whenever it feels a little too cold for socks alone – much like slipping into a warm pair of slippers yourself.

With Joha wool, your child gets wonderfully soft and carefully made quality. Once you have tried Joha’s lovely products, it can be hard to choose anything else, and many parents rely on Joha for wool clothing for babies and children.

Joha booties as slippers

A pair of Joha wool booties is an excellent choice for keeping your baby’s feet warm while they are lying in the pram or playing on a baby mat at home.

Do keep in mind, however, that Joha booties are very smooth due to the soft wool. They are therefore not the best choice as slippers for a slightly older toddler who is beginning to pull themselves up and walk. Instead, we recommend children’s slippers with good ankle support and non-slip soles from brands such as Bisgaard or Pom Pom, which also make children’s slippers in lovely wool qualities.

The many benefits of wool

Research into newborn babies’ sleep suggests that babies who sleep in wool are calmer than those who sleep in cotton or other textiles. In the study, 67 per cent of the babies sleeping on cotton woke and cried at some point, compared with just 30 per cent of the babies sleeping on wool. This is not to say that wool is a miracle solution that will make your child sleep peacefully and safely all night – that would almost be too good to be true. The fact is simply that wool has many beneficial properties, which have made it especially popular among parents for several good reasons.

Wool is a natural material with excellent temperature-regulating properties. It keeps your child warm when it is cold, and if your child becomes too warm, wool is breathable and helps move excess heat away from the body.

Wool can absorb up to 35 per cent of its own weight in water without feeling wet. Its natural fibres also make Joha wool products water-repellent. In addition, wool is naturally self-cleaning, while the lanolin in the fibres helps prevent odours and bacteria from developing.

So wool is not only wonderfully soft and comfortable for your child to fall asleep in – it also helps regulate their body temperature and supports better, more stable sleep. It is hard to ask for much more.

Joha cares about the environment

Joha places great importance on responsible production, which is why all Joha products are OEKO-TEX certified. OEKO-TEX is a health and safety certification that sets requirements for limiting harmful chemicals in clothing. In practice, an OEKO-TEX certificate confirms that the clothing has been tested for substances that could be harmful to your child’s health.

Joha also cares about animal welfare. All wool used in Joha products is mulesing-free, meaning the sheep the wool comes from are treated according to strict animal welfare standards, including during shearing. In addition, most of Joha’s wool products are recognised by the international Woolmark certification, which guarantees high wool quality and purity.

How to care for your wool products

Many people think wool requires extra care and attention. Washing wool in particular can make people hesitate, and some may avoid buying wool for that very reason. Who has not pulled a favourite wool jumper out of the washing machine only to discover that it has shrunk to doll size?

Joha makes things easier. The brand has made considerable efforts to develop wool products that can be machine washed and tumble dried. Always follow the care instructions on the garment, though, to ensure your lovely wool items stay lovely and do not end up as doll clothes.

Joha booties size guide

Please note that Joha’s sizes are divided differently from those of most other children’s clothing brands – and this also applies to booties. Joha uses a sizing system based on tens, so if your baby usually wears size 56, you should look for size 60 from Joha.

The sizes of Joha wool booties follow the same system as the clothing, so you do not necessarily need to measure your baby’s feet. If your baby wears size 56 in clothing, this will often correspond to size 60 in Joha booties. If your baby has larger feet, choose a larger size – you know your baby best. All Joha sizes are based on the child’s height, so the easiest way to find the right size is to measure your child from head to toe.

Mix and match your Joha booties

It is easy to coordinate your Joha wool booties with mittens and a wool suit in the same colour. The range includes classic shades such as grey, blue and pink, while new, beautiful colours are added every year. A matching set with mittens, booties and a pram suit for children makes the perfect gift for a new little arrival, don’t you think?

Explore the many options from Joha, or browse our wide selection of wool clothing for children, including lovely wool items from brands such as Mikk-line and Huttelihut. Huttelihut is also known for its popular children’s hats, made from wonderfully soft wool and shaped like dinosaurs, teddy bears and rabbits – a big hit with children and adults alike.
