House of Kids T-shirts

T-shirts for children that work for everyday wear

Kids’ T-shirts are some of the most-used pieces in any child’s wardrobe. Here you will find both short-sleeved and long-sleeved styles for babies, toddlers and older children in sizes from around 50 to 152. That makes this category relevant whether you are looking for a soft baby T-shirt, an easy everyday favourite for nursery or children’s T-shirts for school, play and free time.

When choosing a T-shirt, fit, material and purpose often make the biggest difference. Some children feel best in a regular fit with plenty of room to move, while a slim fit can be practical under knitwear or as an extra layer. Short-sleeved T-shirts are comfortable on warmer days, while long-sleeved styles work well during transitional seasons or under sweatshirts and knits when the weather changes.

In the selection, you will find both calm solid colours and T-shirts with prints and graphics, making it easy to choose something that suits your child’s age, everyday needs and personal style.

Which kids’ T-shirts suit age and activity?

Children’s needs can change quickly as they grow. For the youngest children, softness and easy dressing are often the most important factors. A baby T-shirt should feel gentle against the skin and sit comfortably without irritating around the neck or seams. For active toddlers and young children, it makes sense to choose T-shirts in a fit that does not feel tight and still looks good after many trips through the washing machine.

As children get older, their personal expression often becomes more important. Many families choose a mix of simple T-shirts and styles with prints, but comfort is still essential when the day includes school, playdates and after-school activities.

As a simple rule of thumb, you can think like this:

  • Baby 50-86: soft materials, simple fit and a comfortable neckline.
  • Young children 92-128: durable T-shirts for play, washing and everyday wear.
  • Older children 134-152: more focus on fit, colours and personal expression.

If the T-shirt is part of a full outfit, it can easily be styled with pants, shorts or a light cardigan depending on the season and your child’s needs.

Materials in children’s T-shirts make a noticeable difference

The material matters because children’s T-shirts sit close to the skin and are often worn for a full day at a time. Many parents choose organic cotton because it is soft, breathable and comfortable in a busy everyday routine with both play and quiet moments. For children with sensitive skin, it can also be a good idea to look for OEKO-TEX certification, which gives extra peace of mind when choosing textiles.

Some T-shirts are made from pure cotton, while others include a little elastane. This adds stretch and can be an advantage for children who are always on the move. Small details such as a well-made neckline and flat seams also make a difference, as they help the T-shirt keep its shape and feel comfortable from morning to evening.

If you want children’s T-shirts that can handle frequent wear and many washes, it is worth choosing a quality that keeps its shape while still feeling comfortable for your child.

Short-sleeved and long-sleeved T-shirts for kids all year round

Short-sleeved T-shirts are an obvious choice in the warmer months, for indoor wear and on days when your child quickly gets warm. They also work well as a basic layer under an open shirt or a lightweight top. Long-sleeved T-shirts are ideal on cooler days and make it easier to build a wardrobe that works across seasons.

In changeable weather, many families choose a long-sleeved style together with light layers, so the child can easily take something off or put something on during the day. Here, a T-shirt can be worn under one of our jackets or together with other tops, making it easier to adapt clothing to temperature and activity.

If your child often gets warm, lightweight and breathable materials can be the best choice. If your child gets cold easily, a long-sleeved T-shirt is often the most flexible everyday solution.

How to choose the right size and get more wear from each T-shirt

Size is often what creates the most doubt. Children grow quickly, and a T-shirt should not be too tight or so large that it hangs awkwardly and becomes impractical to wear. A good starting point is to choose based on your child’s height in cm rather than age alone. If your child is between two sizes, it often makes sense to choose the larger size, especially if you would like the T-shirt to last a little longer.

The fit also matters in practice. Slim fit is a good choice if the T-shirt is meant to be worn under other clothing or if you prefer it to sit closer to the body. Regular fit is often best for play, movement and a more relaxed everyday wardrobe.

To help preserve the fit and colours for as long as possible, it is worth following the care instructions. Children’s T-shirts are quickly worn again and again, and gentle washing can make a clear difference to both durability and prints. It is always nice when favourites last longer and can perhaps even be passed on to a younger child.
