Towels

Kids’ towels and baby towels for bath time, everyday use and small daily routines

Towels for children need to suit the child’s age, how they will be used and how they feel against the skin. Here you’ll find kids’ towels and baby towels in sizes and qualities that make sense in everyday family life – after a bath, for hand washing, during water play or when you are on the go. For the youngest children, extra-soft materials and smaller formats often feel best, while older children usually benefit from towels they can easily use themselves.

It is usually a good idea to choose based on:

  • size in relation to your child’s age
  • material and how soft it feels against the skin
  • whether you need single towels or a set for daily rotation
  • practical details such as a hanging loop or hood

When you consider these things, it becomes easier to find towels for children that work well in a busy everyday routine and feel comfortable to wrap your child in again and again.

Which kids’ towel size is right for your child?

Size often matters more than you might think. A very large towel can be awkward for small children, while one that is too small can quickly become impractical when your child needs to be dried properly after a bath.

For babies and the youngest children, small towels are often useful for the face, hands and first baths. Many parents choose a baby towel around 30x50 cm for small daily routines, while a larger towel or a hooded style can be lovely after a bath. For kindergarten-age children, a kids’ towel around 50x100 cm often makes more sense, as it covers the whole body and is easier for the child to wrap around themselves. For school-age children, slightly larger and more durable styles are typically best for everyday use, sports and leisure activities.

If you are unsure which towel size is best for a 1-year-old or 2-year-old, start by considering whether it will mainly be used for hands and face or for drying the whole body after bath time.

Soft materials make a difference for sensitive skin

When choosing towels for babies and children, the material has a big impact on how the towel feels against the skin. Many parents look for organic cotton, bamboo or classic terry, as these materials offer a good balance of softness and absorbency.

Organic cotton is a reliable everyday choice because it is soft, durable and can be washed again and again. Bamboo is often chosen when you want an extra-soft and skin-friendly towel for children, while the material also dries quickly. Terry is a good option when the towel needs to absorb well after a bath, swimming or a trip to the beach.

If your child has sensitive skin, it can also be reassuring to look for OEKO-TEX certified towels. This adds extra peace of mind when the fabric is close to the skin every single day. For the youngest children, it can make bath time more comfortable and help reduce the risk of irritation.

Kids’ towels for daily use should be easy to use and easy to wash

The best kids’ towels should not only be soft, but also work in a normal family routine. They are used often, washed frequently and need to withstand many trips in and out of the bathroom. That is why it is an advantage to choose styles that can be washed at 40-60 degrees while still keeping their shape and colour nicely.

A hanging loop is a small detail, but it makes everyday life a little easier – especially when your child needs to hang the towel up by themselves in the bathroom or at daycare. For some families, a towel set is the most practical choice, because there is always a clean towel ready while the others are in the wash. Single towels can be a great choice as a gift, or if you want to try a particular quality first.

Of course, the look can be lovely too, but the function needs to carry it. Calm colours or a sweet motif are an added joy when the towel also dries well, feels soft and holds up to being used again and again.

For bath time, holidays and small everyday combinations

Towels are often part of a bigger bath time and care routine. For the youngest children, they are easy to combine with washcloths and muslins, which are also useful to keep close at hand in daily routines. For slightly older children, it makes sense to think of towels together with items for the beach, swimming pool and summer days, such as swimwear or bathrobes.

That way, it is easier to gather what your child actually needs: something soft to dry off with, something comfortable to put on afterwards and solutions that work both at home and on the go. Often, it is exactly these small, practical combinations that bring more calm to everyday life.

Safe choices in children’s towels are about more than appearance

A good towel for children should feel comfortable against the skin, have a suitable size and be able to withstand being used again and again. Often, it is the simple things that make the difference: a soft quality, good absorbency, a size that fits the child and materials you feel good about choosing.

At House of Kids, the selection is chosen with attention to function, quality and what works in everyday family life. Whether you are looking for baby towels for the early months or kids’ towels for older children, the idea is the same: to make it easier to find something that feels good in use and makes practical sense.
